Meaningful May

Hello, APTS, and happy first day of May!

The true feeling of spring is finally here, and it is a great time to refresh your mental health. Not only has this May brought beautiful weather and flowers, but it is also National Mental Health Awareness Month!!

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has dedicated this month to highlighting and uplifting the importance of mental health awareness. "Since its inception in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been a cornerstone of addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions." (NAMI, 2024).

Join us and NAMI this month in normalizing the practice of taking moments to prioritize mental health care without guilt or shame. Programs.

Additionally, Action For Happiness has released their wellness calendar for the month- Meaningful May.

"Meaningful" is a term in the mental health field that is used a lot, but what does it really mean or look like? According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "Search for meaning in life is one of the fundamental psychological needs of human being. According to Frankl (1985), people differ in their levels of meaning in life.

In times of difficulties, those who have meaning and purpose in life can survive much longer than those who lack meaningful living." (WHO, 2022). In short, practicing meaningful strategies = creating purpose for a healthy and happy life!

The Action for Happiness calendar (attached) is full of actions we can take to promote well-being through purposefulness, meaning, and value.

Happy Meaningful May!!

Thank you,
